The Government of Kerala on September 07, 2026, issued a notification regarding a Heatwave Safety Advisory.
The following has been stated: -
•The Central Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding a 3 to 4°C temperature spike in Kerala, urging the public to avoid direct sunlight between 11 am and 3 pm to prevent heat-related illnesses like heatstroke and severe dehydration.
•Citizens are advised to stay hydrated with water, ORS, or traditional beverages while avoiding dehydrating drinks, wearing light cotton clothes, and taking protective measures like using umbrellas and proper footwear.
•Vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, pregnant women, outdoor workers, delivery personnel, and pets, require special care, adjusted schedules, and frequent rest in shaded areas.
•Additionally, institutions like schools, local panchayats, and event organizers must ensure adequate drinking water, ventilation, and rescheduled outdoor activities, while fire safety precautions must be heightened near markets, forests, and dumping yards.
•To stay safe, the public should practice water conservation, carry drinking water everywhere, monitor official updates, and seek immediate medical attention if experiencing any health discomfort.
